Benefits of solar control glass for sliding doors

The decision to opt for solar control glass in sliding doors should be based on your unique requirements and situation. If you reside in a hot climate with intense sunlight, it can be a beneficial investment, offering enhanced comfort, energy efficiency, and safeguarding your furnishings from potential damage. This is especially advantageous if you have valuable or delicate items prone to fading or discolouration.

On the other hand, if you live in a region with a milder climate or spend minimal time in the room with the sliding doors, it may not be a necessary addition.

In summary, investing in solar control glass for sliding doors can provide significant benefits, including improved comfort, energy efficiency, and protection for furnishings. To make the right choice for your sliding doors, it’s essential to assess your specific needs and circumstances. If you require guidance on this decision, feel free to reach out to our experts.

What Our Clients Say About Us

Creating elegant, structurally unique and safe Glass Extensions throughout the UK.

“The Fineline team delivered our glass boxes in almost impossible timeframes which meant the laser survey and design process was condensed into a very short period of time so that the glass could be ordered. The construction of our glass boxes was then completed to programme with no delays. The product delivered is of exceptional quality and they now offer unique lounge spaces for our guests to enjoy the gardens throughout the year. Thank you to Andrew and his team. “Fineline Doors designed and delivered a glass extension to our house and we can’t be more happy with the way it turned out. The product itself is very nice – the glass beams and finish are excellent. The insulation is amazing too – we were a bit worried it would be cold but it works exactly as advertised – not too cold in the winter, not too hot in the summer. The installation was performed by an excellent team, led by Tyler who really knows his stuff. All in all I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company.”

About fineline doors

Solar Control Coatings

The solar control coating is administered to the internal face of the outer glass panel within an insulated glass unit, specifically referred to as the second face of the glass unit. This metal oxide coating is designed to diminish the penetration of short-wave radiation through the glass unit, thereby lowering the elevated levels of heat inside.

Various solar control coatings are available, offering different degrees of light transmission, external tints, and solar control capabilities. Among these coatings, the 70/35 solar control coating is widely favored. This particular coating maintains the unit’s light transmission at 70%, providing a natural appearance, while simultaneously reducing the G factor of the glass unit to 35%.
